The Red Lion Golf Society
Great thing about working on the radio is I do meet loads of people, and get to try out all sorts of different things, I enjoy jogging and walking, but most of all I do enjoy a game of Golf. Have to say I'm no Tiger Woods, but I do play off a handicap of 24. Again living in East Kent we do have some wonderful Championship golf courses. I'll keep you updated on how the Golf's going, I do tend to play most weeks, even in the winter.

For The 2004 Children in need fundraising day we played a round of golf with some future stars of the game, and raised over £1000
The Lads From The Red Lion In Dover were fund raising by playing golf most of 2004.
After a hard slog of 18 holes of golf it's always nice to come back to the 19th and a lovely smiling face.
Handing over some cash we raised to the Dover RNLI

The cheque presentation from the golf team of The Red Lion, Dover, to The Dover Lifeboat crew.

The team raised over £600.

Well done lads.

After around a year of playing golf together a few of the regulars at the Red Lion in Dover thought it would be an idea to see who would be interested in joining a golf society. Then in was decided to start one up within the pub, 28 of us put our names down for the first match which was played on Saturday 2nd April. We intend to play a match each season of the year at least.

Here I've selected a few photo's of our golf match at Etchinghill, hope you enjoy them. Weather on the day was sunny and warm with just a genital breeze. Handicaps ranged from players playing off 6, to others off 28. Wesley was the over all winner with a round of 83, playing off a handicap of 16.

me over, roll on the 19th
After around 4 hours of great golf it was back to The Red Lion in Dover (19th hole) for drinks, food and some awards. We had trophies for the winner. Well done Wesley, also the longest drive, nearest the pin, who hit the most bunkers and the person who took the most shots...Won't name that person here!
Awards back at the Red Lion

And even more

Must say we had a great first outing for our golf society, and a big thank you to John the Post for putting it all together so well, and to Etchinghill Golf Club who put up with us.

Our next full outing is going to be on Saturday 25th June.
